About:
An experimental short that leans into sepia tones and archival textures to evoke memory and nostalgia. The visuals flow in sync with rhythm and pacing, creating a visual poem that bridges past and present through layered collage and motion design.
Early Concept:
The process began by syncing the words to the audio — this served as a proof of concept to establish the foundation. At this stage, I was thinking about which words deserved emphasis and how each scene could transition into the next with intention.
Getting the timing of the poem right was essential before diving into animation. It helped me identify where to pause for impact and where to push the pace. Every frame is deliberate, and every moment carries weight.
Style Frames:
Overview:
Ken Nordine’s poem from his 1966 series, “Colors”, is a fun exploration of color and storytelling. Nordine’s creative flows and styles in his poetry were explored in this animation.
This is my early, most ambitious animation that made me realize I’m particular in capturing certain styles and do any techniques to achieve so.
This animation took five programs to get done!
